In case you hadn’t heard, the Motorola RAZR has been temporarily suspended from the lineup of available phones to purchase from Cingular and Sprint.
If you were one of the few people remaining on Earth who didn’t happen to get this phone, chances are, as it stands right now, you never will, at least not brand new.
Motorola has issued a statement, saying the current issue, of calls being dropped or the phone arbitrarily shutting down, only affected a limited number of phones. I was surprised, that since the release back in 2004, why did it just now come to be an issue?
Motorola says this will not dampen its financial outlook and expectations for this year; however, the Market has not been kind to Motorola this year despite the current string of successes.
Both Cingular and T-mobile are looking to release the phones again for purchase, as they are still hot items.
On the other hand, if you’re one of the people who have been affected by the RAZR glitch, then you probably want a completely new mobile, to play with and help you through this troubling and difficult time.
1. The Motorola PEBL – If you can forgive Moto, then this may be just the phone for you. Works as a Quad band phone GSM 850, 900, 1800, and 1900, has about the same talk time, the same display and shares many features with the RAZR.
On the flipside the PEBL falls a bit short with standby time, approximately 250 hours, memory 5MB with no expansion card, and no music player. Then again, who is using a RAZR as an Ipod alternative?
2. The Motorola SLVR L7 – This phone same as the PEBL, operates on GSM 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 as well, the SLVR though definitely thicker than the RAZR is actually a lighter phone. The talktime comes is pretty close, but you get far more standby almost 18 days.

Another thing, the SLVR does have an expansion card slot, incase that’s something you need and were a bit disappointed from the PEBL.
The most notable features are of course iTunes capability and Push-to-Talk, which depends on your carrier and model of phone.
3. Sony Ericsson W800i – The Walkman line of phones from Sony Ericsson are awesome and gaining in popularity, if you were still stuck with you RAZR but now have the opportunity to switch, take advantage now.
The W800i from Sony Ericsson is another great option, being that it comes equipped with a 2.0 megapixel camera, internal memory of 38MB, which is of course expandable up to 1GB through memory cards.
To start you off in the right direction Sony Ericsson provides you with a 512MB Memory Stick.
