In case you happen to be one of those people who never received a GMail invite and always wanted one, according to C|Net the wait is over. Google’s email service, GMail is now out of Beta and open to all.
Previously available only by invitation from a current GMail user and then later through invitation via mobile phone text message, the Google email service has been quite elusive for many hopeful users.
I actually thought GMail has been available to everybody since the mobile phone invite switch occurred. Even now when visiting the GMail Welcome Page, it appears that you still do infact need an invite to sign up for Gmail. So I really can’t say what the difference is from GMail today and GMail last week.
Expect a huge rollout from Google Mobile provided the company is prepping itself to have a large user base drawn from existing GMail users. The pre-populated field to save your phone number for future Google Mobile services might be a sign that the Google Mobile phone service is closer than we think.
