There were many rumors regarding this, but patience paid off for gamers in Korea, who had to go without a PS3 for what seems like forever. Sony said a larger hard drive was being considered, and the 80GB PS3 is confirmation. Expected price is 518,000 won / $557.

This raises a few ineresting questions regarding Playstation 3 pricing (current 60GB model is $599), suggesting that this may be a sign that larger hard drive models may be heading towards the US and with a reduced price.

However, Sony has vehemently denied any 80GB PS3 launch outside of Korea. In the meantime impatient users can easily add their own drives at a fraction the the current cost. The 80GB PS3 is due June 16th.
